Our Community

A virtual sangha, you can connect with teachers and other sangha members by contacting these locations. If you have a practice community and would like to be listed on our website, please contact info@mondozen.org

A new community is growing throughout Southern California, where you can practice the essential elements of Mondo Zen, with other men and women in an environment of mutual love and support.  Daily practice and weekly services include Meditation, Qi Gong, and Philosophical Study to clearly understand “why” we meditate.  We also promote and support Sacred Stewardship of Mother Earth and Emotional Transformation which enables us to live our practice every day in the “real” world.

Huntington Beach - Koji was founded by Engo Michael Jackson, a Priest in the Hollow Bones Order of the Rinzai Zen Lineage, which traces its origins directly back through Japan, China, and India to Siddhartha Gautama.

Peace on the Street

The central mission of Peace on the Street is education. Our mission is to provide an integrated educational program based upon the psychological understandings articulated by the historic Buddha and developed, through the centuries, by his teachers. We provide meditation classes to train the mind. We extend this mental training to the physical through our martial arts program. It is our belief that mental and physical training should be sustained through proper work and economic well-being. To that end, we provide career training as part of our integrated program. In essence our mission is to provide a program that integrates mind (meditation), body (martial arts) and spirit (work).

We are particularly grateful to the Friends of Zen for sponsoring our organization. Currently we are an administrative division of the friends of Zen.

Uptown Meditation Center

Our mission is to bring Zen practice to the American inner city – applying skillful means to provide core teachings using images and references appropriate to the African American and Hispanic communities. We are particularly concerned with empowering the youth of our community with the freedom and clarity brought about by contemplative practice.
